Short post.  New WoW patch dropped today so I’m very busy.  Speaking of WoW, today is about WoW’s biggest competitor.

If you are currently playing through FFXIV’s story, or intend to and care about spoilers, stop reading.  But if you’re on the fence, well idk, maybe just don’t watch the video.  You probably won’t understand what’s going on anyway so maybe it’s fine regardless.

  • Track: Close in the Distance

FFXIV is well known for its incredibly long (~300 hours maybe?) and mandatory main story quest.  Personally I’ve never been a story guy, but I wanted to raid with my online friends, so I story skipped to Shadowbringers and leveled in preparation of Endwalker.

When Endwalker came out, it felt silly to rush past everything, so I decided to pay attention to the story.  Endwalker is basically the last chapter of FFXIV and its first four expansions, so there’s a lot riding on the story.  Probably not the best starting point, I must admit.  But one of the flaws with FFXIV’s story is that it starts slow and gets better over time.  So for a guy like me, I would never have decided to suffer through the “proper” order.  The Endwalker story was pretty great though, with an awesome ending.  I liked it enough that I’ve decided to slowly go back through the previous expansions.  I’m about halfway through Stormblood, though I haven’t played in about a year now.  But sooner or later I’ll be back in the mood and Ill finish it up.

This song is pretty cheesy, but it reminds me of how incredible the Endwalker ending was. 👍
